The influence of movie sex and violence

Robin was recently a guest on the Judi Spiers show on BBC Radio Devon. In a wide ranging interview Robin and Judi discussed the role of the censor, and had a lively debate on the influence of sex and violence in films on behaviour and society.

Robin also read from Below the Thunder, which Judi felt would make a great movie, very flattering!

Keith Walters reviews Below the Thunder

Thank you to Keith Walters for his review of Below the Thunder on his excellent blog, Books and Writers.

We particularly liked Keith’s summing up, “Like an unsuspecting Jason Bourne fan getting caught up in his own fantasy adventure, this was a fun and entertaining ride across the globe with characters I enjoyed and would want to read more of in the future.”

Robin tours the airwaves

Robin has been particularly busy recently touring the UK’s local radio stations.

He has spoken about writing his latest book, Below the Thunder, and varied career experiences to BBC stations including: Kent, Hereford and Worcester, Guernsey, West Midlands, Cumbria and Berkshire. As well as giving this interview to Talk Radio Europe’s Book Show.

Below the Thunder, a vintage launch

The launch of Robin’s second novel, Below the Thunder – follow up to Bear in the Woods – was a great success. Held at his local independent bookshop The Pitshanger Bookshop in Ealing, it was widely attended by friends and family, other local authors and colleagues from Robin’s time at the BBFC.

After enjoying the ‘Below the Thunder’ wine and canapés, attendees listened to Robin discuss how his protagonist, Bryn, has no right to be involved in an international conspiracy, and is more Frasier than Bond, before moving on to read an enticing extract from the book.

The event was flagged up in local paper The Ealing Gazette and book trade website BookBrunch.

Robin contributes to Crime Time

Robin was recently invited to contribute to leading crime fiction blog Crime Time.

In Below the Thunder: Robin Duval talks to Crime Time, Robin discusses how his experience of film and television, encounters with the intelligence services, and on the ground research have influenced his writing.
